TECHNICAL COMMITTEE

The Technical Committee is the advisory and governance body responsible for ensuring the scientific, operational, and regulatory integrity of the Whole-Chain International Standard (WCIS). Comprised of multidisciplinary experts in supply chain management, sustainability, food systems, certification, data governance, and innovation, the committee provides strategic oversight, guidance, and continuous improvement of the standard.

The committee’s mandate is to:

  • Review and update the procedures, indicators, and certification criteria that constitute the WCIS framework.
  • Ensure alignment with international regulations, such as the European Union Deforestation Regulation (EUDR), and evolving best practices in traceability, environmental compliance, and ethical sourcing.
  • Evaluate emerging risks and integrate science-based solutions to enhance transparency, accountability, and sustainability across global supply chains.
  • Support implementation partners by validating tools, technologies, and sustainable key performance indicators (S-KPIs) used in WCIS-certified operations.
  • Foster inclusive participation, especially from producers, SMEs, and stakeholders in the Global South, to ensure the standard remains equitable, accessible, and globally relevant.

Through this work, the Technical Committee ensures that the Whole-Chain International Standard remains a robust and credible system for advancing sustainable and transparent supply chains from origin to market.
